Michael W. Milde, M.D.
Expert Evaluations for Exceptional Outcomes

With expertise in both teaching and performing interventional radiology procedures, Dr. Michael W. Milde is one of the most experienced interventional radiologists in Northeast Wisconsin. A former assistant professor of radiology at the Medical College of Wisconsin, Dr. Milde draws on his mentoring skills by sharing his interventional techniques with other radiologists and working with surgeons and other physicians to best meet patient needs. He serves as Section Chief of the Vascular and Interventional Radiology Division of RAA.

His special interests in interventional radiology include:
   • Angiography and peripheral vascular intervention
   • Percutaneous biopsies and drainages
   • Stereotactic and ultrasound-guided breast core biopsies
   • Nephrostomies and biliary drainage procedures
   • Facet, S-I and other joint injections for pain relief

Dr. Milde also works with urologists to remove large kidney stones (percutaneous nephrolithotomy). With the patient under general anesthesia, Dr. Milde places a catheter through the skin into the kidney (nephrostomy). The urologist can then position a special device into the kidney through the catheter to destroy the stone.

Dr. Milde plays a leadership role in local radiological care by assisting with the most complex cases. His expertise and unique perspective allow Dr. Milde to work with specialists and subspecialists to determine the point where radiological intervention must give way to surgery.

He received his medical degree from the University of North Dakota, and completed his internship and residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Prior to joining Radiology Associates of Appleton in 1985, Dr. Milde served as an assistant professor of radiology at the Medical College of Wisconsin from 1981 to 1984 and co-director of vascular and interventional radiology for the college from 1984 to 1985. At the same time, Dr. Milde was also chief of angiography and neuroradiology for the Veterans Administration Medical Center near Milwaukee, Wis.

Dr. Milde is board certified in radiology by the American College of Radiology, and is a member of the American College of Radiology and the Radiological Society of North America.
